Another perl of Bangkok’s reviving coffee house culture is something we found not far from Wat Suthat. Ginger Bread House is a real nice old wooden building with an excellent selection of coffees and cakes. Seating downstairs, upstairs or outside is available and it is at the moment my favourite old style coffee house in Bangkok. Most people sit inside because it is airconditioned, but we like the heat and weather of SE Asia, so outside was just fine. Service was great and the staff tries to speak English with western customers. The only criticism I have is that they still use plastic cups and lids for iced drinks, despite all the efforts worldwide to reduce one-way plastic usage. A glass would be even better matched the wonderful old style coffee house.
