Since I left the Hotel in Sukhothai a day early, I was really looking forward to being back at the Grand Riverside Hotel in Phitsanulok. We have been at this Hotel several times in the past few years, but the Hotel was still the same, though a bit dated here and there. Nevertheless the contrast could not be bigger between the bad experience in Sukhothai and the awesome service here in Phitsanulok.
The Grand Riverside is ease to reach, though traffic over the years has increased and it took a long time at the last traffic light, just before the bridge crossing the river. Luckily it was just an easy turn left and down the road for me. The Hotel is located on the west side of the river, with an easy (though relatively hot and humid) walk into the city center. Plenty of free parking with a security guard and there were now several new restaurants and a coffee shop right at the entrance of the Hotel grounds.
The Hotel is a business hotel. Great service from check-in to check-out a few days later. English language skills were still not easily available and I had to revert back to my own Thai language skills. But staff was super friendly. The room was large and clean with a great view over the river and the city.
In my own rating the Grand Riverside Hotel would look like this:
Location 5 of 5 (as a conscious decision)
Room Size 5 of 5
WiFi free and working 4 of 5 (better in the lobby)
Breakfast included and yummy 5 of 5
Staff competency and friendliness 5 of 5
Safety box in the room and adequate size 5 of 5
Bathroom functionality 5 of 5
Room design and functionality 5 of 5
Sounds 5 of 5
