• A Phetchabun province trip

    After having gained an additional day for leaving Sukhothai province early, I decided to take a day trip up one of the prettiest routes in the area. Highway 12 steadily goes up the hills and mountains east of Phitsanulok and it’s been a few years since I drove up here. It’s a pretty area with waterfalls and forests, resorts and plenty of shopping and eating places along the way. Wat Phra That Chon Kaeo in the province of Phetchabun was our destination for the day.   • Phitsanulok city

    Not much to say about Phitsanulok! There is not too much to do here unless you love some of the best temples in the Kingdom or you want to use the city as a base for trips around Northern Thailand. As for me, I like the quietness of the city, which is a mix of old Thailand and a bit of modern Thailand. And of course I have a handful of temples to worship and visit every time I come the city.   • Grand Riverside Hotel

    Since I left the Hotel in Sukhothai a day early, I was really looking forward to being back at the Grand Riverside Hotel in Phitsanulok. We have been at this Hotel several times in the past few years, but the Hotel was still the same, though a bit dated here and there. Nevertheless the contrast could not be bigger between the bad experience in Sukhothai and the awesome service here in Phitsanulok. The Grand Riverside is ease to reach, though traffic over the years has increased and it took a long time at the last traffic light, just before the bridge crossing the river.
