• Si Satchanalai Historical Park

My third time at this quiet place north of Sukhothai. On our first trip we took a taxi from Old Sukhothai for the day, but the taxi driver kept drinking while we visited temples and he was so drunk on the way back that he fell asleep while driving! Hence I decided to drive myself and spend a whole day at the park. Sadly the spell with unfriendly people in Sukhothai province continued with the staff at the entrance booth, but luckily they were the only people to interact with during the entire visit. Si Satchanalai Historical Park also improved over the years and there are now toilets, food stalls…

  • Sukhothai Historical Park

Contrary to the people of Sukhothai, the town and the hotel, was the visit to Sukhothai Historical Park a highlight. Our third time here and while we rushed through the park on our first visit and we just did the Loy Krathong Light and Sound Show at night on the second visit, did we just leasurely enjoy the park this time. They rent-out bikes now, as well as e-cars (or something like that). However, I still find it most enjoyable to walk the park. And we did spend an entire day in the park from morning to after sunset! We just visited those places which we really liked in our…

  • Sukhothai Garden Hotel

Especially after two really nice trips to Sukhothai before, I was looking forward to stay at this hotel with so many positive ratings in my bookings app! The rooms looked perfect, the comments were perfect and the price was competitive! After arriving in Old Sukhothai, not far from the Sukhothai Historical Park, I arrived at the Sukhothai Garden Hotel and checked into my room. I was given room # 102, which was in the old wooden building above the office and which looked NOTHING like the rooms covered in the online…

  • A long drive in Northern Thailand

It’s been a first time for me! Driving myself in Thailand. I have been driven around many times and I have been scared shitless even more times, seeing how some drivers in Thailand drive. However, after testing driving for a week in Chiang Mai and around, I decided to take the risk and undertake the long drive from Chiang Mai, through the provinces and mountains of Lamphun, Lampang and Sukhothai by myself. Basically following a route I choose along Highways 11, 1, 1048, 1327, 1056 and finally 1113. The drive itself was rather relaxing with a few stops at coffee shops and gas stations along the way. I purposeley wanted…
